The frontman of “Okean Elzy” said that Ukrainian culture is in dire need of government assistance.
Public policy regarding the support of Ukrainian culture demands the immediate change of the vector – “corrupt protectionism” to contemporary art.

“Okean Elzy” never asked for government support. We have always handled ourselves, I hope, to cope on. However, there are areas of culture that in today’s circumstances dire need of government assistance. For example, classical music, museums, theatres, to a certain extent, movie. Today, it is unlikely that they alone can not only grow, but to survive. And they are one of the factors in the formation of a full nation. Unfortunately, often, instead of helping true art, state agencies and grants of kitsch corny, crony, corrupt protectionism. About a similar problem says in the latest interview with Vlad Troitsky,” said he.
Vakarchuk believes that instead of supporting new cultural trends, creating an environment in which I have the chance to be geniuses, at the official level cultivated taste.

“When was the last time the state actually engaged in the culture, for example, in the Ukrainian village? Frontman invites civil society and those responsible for public policies to face each other and begin an honest and open dialogue on culture. “Rather banal words from officials and the concepts in a thousand pages. Clear, understandable, and most importantly sincere suggestions will always find support. And this applies not only to the sphere of culture, but also all other spheres as well. Vakarchuk also said that he “grieved”, but the real change will start when “nebolit most”.
