A man shot a woman on Cooper Square in Manhattan, then tried to kill herself. This was reported to the police.
The police reported that the man and woman taken to hospital in critical condition. It is noted that the participants of the incident were familiar with each other, but the degree of their acquaintance at this point is not known.
