We already know that “Mama!” Aronofsky started poorly at the box office and caused a very mixed reaction from the audience. Someone happy, someone grumbles about the Arthouse, and someone said that could be a little less pathos. I admit, the movie still did not go, and there will soon premiere of the new “Texas chainsaw massacre”, you know… in short, your opinions about this movie I have, but Darren Aronofsky I rather like, so maybe, ladies, “mom!” a chance.
Anyway, Studio Paramount Pictures has released an official statement on the weak start of this picture in theaters:
This film is very brave and strong. We are talking about the Director, who is at the top of his work, and the actress on top of your game. They created a picture that should be daring. They all want the original film, and all praise Netflix when they tell such a story that no one else dares to take. And this is our version. We do not think that all movies should be comfortable. And it’s okay if some people don’t like it.
Sounds great, sure, but somehow it is hard to believe a major film company that risk their money for the sake of art. Moreover, these guys refused from the “Terminator” and abolished the “Friday the 13th” this year. No, I understand that the franchise can not be called by some innovative. I’m just saying that Paramount this year showed that good experiencing, suffering losses. Well, now they need to make a good mine at bad game.
