Over hotels in Switzerland have worked leading architects

Four architects built 4 rooms – each with its own unique style.

Four leading architects – Thom Mayne (Morphosis), Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma and Peter Zumthor – worked on the design of the new “House of architects” hotel Hotel 7132 in Vals (Switzerland).

“Home” – Annex to the hotel consists of a lobby and entrance, designed by Morphosis Architects, as well as 7 rooms. 4 of them was designed by the architects from Morphosis.

The two, dubbed the “hardwood”, fully lined with wood; and two more – “stone” – quartzite from a local quarry. The same material Zumthor used in the construction of the Therme Vals Spa nearby. In each of these four rooms has a glass shower Cabinet in the centre and a balcony overlooking the mountains.

As it became known, the share of the remaining three architects had one room, each of them also finished with one particular material.

Tadao Ando chose the tree and designed a room inspired by Japanese tea houses. Kuma called his creation “oak cocoon”, as a tribute to Japanese carpentry. And the room cantora walls and ceiling are covered with kalalou, a special kind of plaster that can replace the use of natural stone veneer and architectural surfaces. The technique of using this material dates back to the Italian Renaissance.

According to ProfiDOM.com.ua this is the second project of the company Morphosis in Vals. The first project of hotel of class “luxury”. Hotel tower with a height of 375 m with 107 rooms, which offer panoramic views, provoked a mixed reaction.
