On the beaches of Thailand, Smoking is prohibited

The restriction will apply to all cigarettes, including electronic.

Thai authorities will ban Smoking on the tourist beaches of the country. As reported by the Bangkok Post, we are talking about 20 coastal areas. Smoking will be outlawed in November.

As told the head of the Department of marine and coastal resources of Thailand Chetuphon Boraphet (Jatuporn Buruspat), Smoking causes significant damage to marine and coastal resources. He noted that the decision was made after verification of Patong beach, on Phuket island. There is a 2.5-mile stretch, the inspectors found about 138 thousand cigarette butts, with an average of 0.76 of cigarette butts per square meter.

Boraphet noted that the ban will be introduced in the tourist areas in the heart of the Andaman sea and the Gulf of Thailand. At the same time near the coastal areas will be equipped with special areas for Smoking.
