It is located in France.

315 million pounds (417 million dollars) — this amount is evaluated, the Villa Les Cèdres (“Cedar”) on the French Riviera, recently offered for sale. The mansion area of over 15 thousand square meters, surrounded by 14 hectares of private land, was built in 1830. No house in the world before such money is not sold.

Initially, the Villa was owned by the mayor of the city of Villefranche-sur-Mer, passionate about growing olives. On-site still is one of the most beautiful gardens in Europe: the perfectly manicured lawn, 15 thousand plants and 20 greenhouses with tropical flora.

In 1904, the house became the property of the Belgian king Leopold II, who at the turn of the century was incredibly rich on the ruthless exploitation of the Free state of the Congo (considered his “personal possession”).

This area is, of course, extremely fashionable. In particular, in the neighborhood of the English composer sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

In the house, many paintings of the XIX century, 16 bedrooms. As well as a ballroom, a 50-metre indoor pool, several fireplaces and a spacious terrace. In a separate building, a stable for 30 horses.

In the XX century, the Villa Les Cèdres was visited by many prominent people of the era: actors Charlie Chaplin and Elizabeth Taylor, writer Somerset Maugham, Prince Rainier III of Monaco. British Prime Minister sir Winston Churchill used to spend hours painting landscapes, standing in the middle of the local splendor.
