Marine archaeologists began excavating the wreck of a Dutch ship gone to the bottom off the coast of great Britain in 1740.
Ship Rotovac participated in the East India company and went to the place where is currently in Jakarta, however, again arrive on dry land he was not destined — the ship went down with 300 aboard people, as well as a large cargo of silver bars and coins.
Rotovac, discovered only in 2005. Then the vessel was taken out a large part of the precious cargo. Now, however, archaeologists began work on the wreck because they fear that the ship could be destroyed because of shifting Sands and changing currents.
Archaeologists have been discovered on the seabed the remains of the dead sailors, coins, leather shoes, oil lamps, glass bottles, jugs, spoons, and knives with carved handles.
Scientists call seen “the moment of history” and “underwater Pompeii”.
Among the delivered to land items was a well preserved wooden chest. Experts plan to scan it in an x-ray, to understand whether it contains cargo or personal belongings of the sailors.
Excavations at Rosovice became the largest project on the ship of the East India company, which was wrecked about 250 ships and only a third of them was discovered.
