Word travels fast… Rumors about the upcoming (or not?) new remake of “a Nightmare on elm street” (A Nightmare on Elm Street, 1984). One was filmed in 2010 but not well-liked. And since then from year to year that here and there emerges something new about a hypothetical reincarnation of one of the most beloved people horror franchises.
Fresh gossip from the series. Colleagues from the site of the Russo Rosso with a link to the online Dark Universe report that the Studio New Line Cinema (which once was called “the house that Freddy built”) plans to not just reboot the franchise and make a reboot of ALL the movies about Freddy. This was told by none other than the performer of the role of Kruger in the old Kovach Robert Englund.
The Robert to the role of Freddy for sure – after all, he this year turned 70 years. But Englund wants to be in a cameo. In addition, we remember that he had a great idea for a new film in the series, and who knows – maybe screenwriter David Johnson, who, as previously reported, is working on the script for the new remake, will take the work and contributions of Robert.
Whatever it was, and Englund now together with the French master of horror by Alexander Azha is in Spain, where they create a VR project Campfire Creepers series for the Oculus Rift, which promises to make a sort of “Kaleidoscope of horrors” for virtual reality.
It was there, on set, Englund caught and spread on the “chat” about “Nightmare on elm street”. And that’s what the actor said:
They [New Line Cinema] I want to make a reboot of all the movies about Freddy, though, has already done one and he hasn’t had much success. They want to make it for new audiences, using new technologies, and I hear that Freddie can play Kevin bacon.
I’m too old to do it. I could still do one, but not to repeat them again and again (…) But I’d like to appear in a cameo. Could be the new master of dreams, or a skeptic who doesn’t believe that the existence of Freddy may. It would be fun for the fans and for me.
As you can see, there is nothing official, only Englund recounts the rumors that reached him. To be or not to be new “the Nightmares…” – it is NOT yet clear. In the end, history has already known a case when a project is partly inspired by this series of films, was never presented to the audience.
But the casting of Kevin Bacon for the role of Freddy is interesting. Moreover, the actor, like, he has nothing against. And we all know that the career of Kevin at the time, began in such films as “Tremors” and “Friday the 13th”. It would be cool if now bacon was involved in KNOW universe. So far, however, the actor is busy with the television series “Tremors of the earth.”
