Quite unexpected in the Russian translation of the name given to the new Chinese “supervisees”: it was chosen in a nationwide Internet voting. As reported Garnovskii edition of South China Morning Post, the carrier was given the name of cancer-mantis 皮皮虾 (pipixia) — Russian transcribed it as “Pipi Xia”. This cancer, by the way, is a well-known culinary delicacy in China.
The SCMP also said that “Pipi Xia” scored as many as 1.37 million votes, and the name “Pipi Xia” has sounded on a press-conferences the speaker of the defense Ministry of China Jan Ujina. Then the military announced that the carrier will receive the official title “after commissioning”.

Also Hong Kong newspaper reported that in the online survey, in addition to “Ko Phi Phi, XI” won the provocative name: “Taiwan” and “sun Wukong” (so called “monkey king” from the classic Chinese novel.
