Unique photographs of Edward Curtis.
Culture of Indian tribes, full of magical traditions, mysterious rituals, bizarre costumes and unique spirit of freedom, throughout the 20th century is rapidly disappearing. Realizing this, Edward Sheriff Curtis devoted two decades of his life to capture the life style of indigenous people of North America.
In 1906, a wealthy financier and banker George. P. Morgan singled to Curtis 75 thousand dollars for a collection of photographs of Indian tribes. For 20 years, Curtis visited more than 80 tribes, making more than 40 thousand pictures.
In addition to photographs, he recorded songs and languages, local traditions and biography. We chose the most interesting, in our opinion, the pictures of this amazing collection, made from 1900 to 1920:
