The demand for renewable energy sources in the world grows, so the title of “the world’s largest solar power plant” quickly change the owner.
For example, in 2014 it was the 550 MW Topaz solar plant, in November of the same year she lost the title 648 MW solar plant in Kamuthi, India. And at the moment that title belongs to the Chinese Dam Solar Park, this station’s capacity is equal to 850 MW.
NASA released two images of the Dam Solar Park in the Chinese province of Qinghai, one of them was made in APR 2013 and the other January 5 of this year. The photos clearly shows how much the increased area of solar power plants in four years. Now the Dam square Solar Park is 27 square kilometers, the station itself consists of nearly four million solar panels.
In China pay great attention to the development of environmentally friendly technologies for electricity production. In 2015, the total installed capacity of China’s solar panels increased from 15 GW to 43 GW. In 2016, it has increased to 77 GW, and China, ahead of Germany, USA and Japan, became the world’s largest producer of solar energy.
Published NASA images were taken by Landsat 8. This satellite is capable of making very detailed pictures in realistic colors.
