Scientists of the New Horizons mission with the help of pictures obtained by the apparatus while passing over the surface of the dwarf planet, has created a video of Pluto and Charon, which allow to consider all features of the surface of celestial bodies.
“This dramatic flyover of Pluto starts over the mountainous lands southwest of the large area nitrogen ice plains, informally known as “Sputnik Planitia”. The spectator first passes through the Western edge of the Satellite, where it is bordered by a dark, crater terrain Cthulhu Macula, with massive mountain ranges, located on the plains on the right. The tour moves to the North, passing by the solid and broken highlands Voyager-Terra, and then turns South on pioneer-Terre, which shows a deep and wide pit. Ends above the blade area tartare-Dors in the far East of the hemisphere,” describe the Agency flying over Pluto.
“A thrilling flight over the Charon starts high above the hemisphere. New horizons are visible from a close distance, then a deep wide canyon serenity Chasma. The review moves to the North, passing through the crater of Dorothy Gale and the dark polar hood of Mordor Macula. The flight then turns South, covering the Northern part of Oz-Terra, and ends on a flat Equatorial plains of Planum Volcano and “smooth mountain” Clark Montes”, – stated in the description of Charon.
Topographic relief is exaggerated two to three times in these films to emphasize the topography: the color of the surface of Pluto and Charon has also been expanded to emphasize the details, the report said.
Recall that the space station NASA New Horizons has a picture of Charon on 14 July 2015. On the high-resolution picture, where the combined pictures in blue, red and infrared color made instrument Ralph/Multispectral Visual Imaging Camera (MVIC), a visible polar region is reddish.
