NASA has completed the selection of candidates for training missions to Mars

The contest received more than 18 thousand applications.

The us space Agency NASA has completed the selection of candidates for training missions to Mars. In the selected group consisted of 12 people – five women and seven men, according to the NASA website.

“You are the best of us. And you have to fly beyond the moon and perhaps become the first to fly to Mars” – said present at the ceremony Vice-President Mike Pence.

Applications for participation in competition gave more than 18 thousand people. It is the Americans that have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, biology, medicine, mathematics, military pilots.

It is expected that the group of 12 people will be trained for dvuhlet. After this they will participate in space flights on ISS, beyond low earth orbit, beyond the moon, and to prepare flight to Mars.
