Android has become the most popular operating system worldwide, with the perspective of General Internet use via desktop computer, laptop, tablet and mobile phone combined.
Research service StatCounter showed that in March, Android devices were made 37,93% of the Internet whereas with devices running Windows 37,91%. The driving force for the change was the increasing sales of smartphones and the reduction of sales volumes of the PC.
“This is an important milestone in the history of technology and the end of an era. This figure marks the end of Microsoft domination of the worldwide OS market, which he has held since 1980-ies. It is also an important breakthrough for Android which held only 2.4% of the global share of Internet usage five years ago,” commented data, Aodhan Cullen, CEO StatCounter.
Additionally, in Asia, Android’s share reaches as much as 52.2 per cent which is almost twice more than the Windows (29.2 per cent). In North America, the Google OS is ranked third (21.2 per cent), behind Windows (39,5%) and iOS (25.7 per cent).
