Named the main reason for the starvation of children in the world

UN in its report says that 80% of starving children in the world are in countries where armed conflict occurs.

According to the report of the UN food and agriculture organization misses 80% of starving children in the world are in countries where there are military conflicts, reports an international research Institute food policy.

“In 2016, violent conflicts and extreme weather conditions were the main destructive forces that contributed to the famine in several parts of the world. Food security is closely connected with world conflicts: almost 80% of starving children live in countries of conflict. In the beginning of this year, the famine was declared in parts of southern Sudan, and on the verge of starvation were Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen, resulting in more than 20 million people suffered from hunger,” said assistant Director General at the food and agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO), Kostas Stamoulis.

According to FAO the first major leap to increase hungry people in the world peaked in 2008. In 2015, more than 777 million people were in need of humanitarian assistance in the food sector, and already in 2016 the number of victims of hunger has increased to 815 million people.

Also, the report paid attention to the opposite side of the starvation – obesity.

In many countries there is a high level of malnutrition among children, anemia among women and obesity among adults. Meanwhile, children’s overweight and obesity are increasing in most regions.

“For the first time in human history our children will be sicker than we, and their life may be shorter than the lives of adults.
