The scientists said that red wine protects the teeth from decay.
Spanish scientists have discovered a new useful property of alcoholic beverage.
Spanish scientists made an experiment that showed that red wine can protect human teeth from caries.
One of the authors of this study, Maria Victoria Moreno-Arribas said that it is a specific substance – polyphenol. This chemical compound is used in red wine and has the ability to destroy harmful bacteria that thrive in the mouth and on the teeth of the person. Scientists know that these bacteria provoke the development of caries on the teeth.
The experiment that showed this beneficial property of red wine was that researchers were placed in a container of red wine, five kinds of bacteria. After some time, experts have noticed that the reproduction of harmful microorganisms stopped.
It is worth noting that similar properties have grape and pomegranate juices. They are, according to scientists who have polyphenol, which destroys harmful bacteria in the mouth.
