Experts have established the presence of exactly the same crystal structure and that, and another stone, from which they conclude that they are one and the same, but with different names.
The only difference between sapphire and ruby is the only color that is obtained due to the different impurities in their structure. Considered to be a ruby stone, which the chromium has given a specific shade of red. Its congener, which is less than the “purpura” due to its pink color is called sapphire.
