The Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine approved the draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers about the reduction of permitted driving speed on roads in settlements with 60 km/h to 50 km/hour in the daytime. It is reported by the State Agency of highways of Ukraine (“Ukravtodor”).
The project provides for changes in the rules of the road.
“At the same time from 23.00 to 6.00 in settlements movement of vehicles is permitted at a speed not exceeding 60 km/h”, – stated in the message.
“Ukravtodor” explains the changes the need to reduce the number of accidents and to approximate Ukrainian legislation to European standards.
The draft resolution must approve at its meeting the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
June 14 at the government meeting the head of “Ukravtodor” Slawomir Nowak announced a proposal to reduce the allowed speed in settlements to 50 km/h. He explained that good roads increase the movement speed on them, and this increases the accident rate.
