Russia will push for the lifting of international sanctions through deals with the US on Crimea. This was stated press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
“This cannot be and speeches” – he said, answering a reporter’s question about whether Moscow to go with a new US administration for a deal on Crimea, in particular, to agree to the holding of a second referendum (on reunification with Russia) in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
We will remind, Russia has carried out an armed annexation of Crimea in late February 2014, and in March staged a “referendum” on accession of the Peninsula to the Russian Federation. The Russian authorities announced that 96.77% of the Crimean population voted “for”.
The results of the “referendum” did not recognize Ukraine and Western countries that have imposed sanctions against Russia as the aggressor country.
