Moscow launched a loud accusation against the European Union

Lavrov accused the EU of violating the European Convention on human rights.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov has underlined that the EU violates the European Convention on human rights, prohibiting the issuance of Schengen visas to inhabitants of the occupied Crimea.

For the resumption of the debate on the abolition of visas between Russia and the EU in Brussels should refrain from collective punishment of the inhabitants of the occupied Crimea, which is now not issued a Schengen visa.

“In order to restore visa-free discussion, it is necessary that the EU has made findings and refused actions, which directly violate the European Convention on human rights … I mean the collective punishment of inhabitants of the Crimea, who are not allowed to issue Schengen visas,” – said Lavrov.

The Russian foreign Minister stressed that “this prosecution is essentially on the basis of geography and civil positions of the Russian Federation”.

Lavrov noted that Russia’s stance on complete abolition of visas with the EU in force, but this process must be mutual.
