Friday, October 20, the Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shiogu handed six MIG-29 fighters to the leadership of Serbia for further use of the local army.
The event took place at a military airfield near Belgrade, with the participation of the President of the country Aleksandar Vučić, reports Radio Liberty.
The aircraft was delivered to Serbia dismantled. They will gather on site. Indicates that the cost of Assembly, repair and reconstruction of the MiGs will cost Serbia $235 million
According to Vucic, the army, the Russian aircraft will arrive by the end of this year.
Indicates that in 2007, the Serbian Parliament adopted a resolution on military neutrality of the country. However, Belgrade’s defense policy allows for cooperation with foreign military. So, Serbian soldiers take part in military exercises with colleagues from Russia and NATO.
We will remind, in July, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic said that if Belgrade has the choice between close ties with Russia and accession to the EU, it will choose the latter.
