Animals were attracted to the corpse of the bowhead whale, beached
The beach is a nature reserve “Wrangel Island” in Russia, carried the carcass of a bowhead whale, which has attracted about 230 bears. As told in management of the reserve, from all around came the whole family of bears with cubs.
“To discover such a unique concentration of bears in one place was due to the fact that the vessel passed near the island. On Board were scientific staff of the reserve and inspector of protection. Data the finding reported working in the area of the island, the international research group on monitoring of the Alaska-Chukotka population of polar bears,” reads the statement of the nature reserve “Wrangel Island”.
