The Ukrainian army responded to the statement by Merkel and Makron.
Ukrainian armed Forces adhere to the ceasefire in the Donbass, said the General staff in response to the demand of France and Germany to abide by the truce.
“For the purpose of unconditional compliance with the agreements reached during the phone talks in “Norman format” and to create conditions for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbass, the Armed forces of Ukraine continue to adhere to the declared ceasefire in connection with the beginning of the school year. In the area of the antiterrorist operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions Ukrainian troops comprehensively promote the work of the OSCE observers. The Russian occupation troops must also adhere to the agreements on the ceasefire regime in connection with the beginning of the school year”, – reported on the website of the General staff of the APU on Facebook.
Yesterday the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Emmanuel macron demanded that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin to fulfill its obligations under the cease-fire in Eastern Ukraine. The leaders of Germany and France stated that the situation in the Donbas has not improved after entry into force of the agreement on a new ceasefire.
In response, Poroshenko said that the appeal is addressed primarily to Putin.
