The militants of the terrorist organization “DNR” announced the launch captured in the summer of 2016 Yuzovsky metallurgical plant (former Donetsk steel plant, Donetsk electrometallurgical plant) owned by Russian companies Mechel Igor Zyuzin.
This was stated to journalists by the leader “DNR” Alexander Zakharchenko.
The plant, owned by Mechel in July 2016 came under the control of “DPR Ministry of industry and trade”. “The authorities of the DNI” was stated then that they are ready to return the assets of the company Mechel, if the Russian company itself it will restart.
Mechel stopped the plant with a capacity of more than 1 million tons of steel per year in 2012 amid falling demand for its products.
According to the Agency, a source close to Mechel, said that the company is exploring legal possibilities for the return of control over the plant. What the decision, he said. The representative of Mechel declined to comment.
First production from Yuzovsky iron and steel works is expected in October. Now steel prices allow metallurgists to work with a full load, but the leader of “DNR” announced plans to produce about 30 thousand tons of steel monthly – that is, the factory will be downloaded to the third power. Part of the production will be exported, said Zakharchenko did not specify where and through what the trade mission will be organized supplies.
