David Saakashvili wrote a statement to the police about his illegal detention.
Brother of the former President of Georgia, former head of the Odessa regional state administration Mikhail Saakashvili, David left the Pechersk regional Department of the State migration service in Kyiv.
This was reported by an associate of Mikhail Saakashvili, a member of the party the movement of new forces David Sakvarelidze.
“Now he’s gone. We asked: people arrested or detained? We were told not arrested. So why, then, his power was brought to the Department? It’s called detention. It’s called illegal detention, in the language of the Criminal code. Now: he left and will continue to live and work in peace in Ukraine”, – said Sakvarelidze.
He also reported that no Protocol of administrative detention of Davit Saakashvili.
“We said if they made up a Protocol of administrative detention? Protocol no… They illegally pushed man into the car and brought here,” – said Sakvarelidze.
The question was whether David Saakashvili legal grounds to stay in Ukraine, Sakvarelidze said, “Yes. Three years people lived peacefully in the territory of Ukraine”.
In turn, the press service of the movement of new forces announced that David Saakashvili was released, and he and his lawyers wrote a statement to the police about his illegal detention.
Earlier, the interior Ministry explained that David Saakashvili was brought by the police in Kyiv to the State migration service of Ukraine to leave the territory of Ukraine, as his residence permit was annulled on the grounds that even March of this year he was denied a work permit in Ukraine.
“Back then a foreigner was duly informed about the lack of grounds for stay in Ukraine. But it is in the statutory period the territory of our country is not left and remained in the country illegally”, – said the Director of the Department of communication of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine Artem Shevchenko.
According to him, “we made the decision to return a foreign citizen, in principle, in any country, what he wants, and the imposition of an administrative fine”.
Shevchenko said that the citizen of Georgia David Saakashvili has committed a violation under part 1 of article 203 of Code of Ukraine about administrative offenses – residence in Ukraine with invalid documents.
“He gave his written explanation, which shows that it is closed from April 2017 of the company that were previously employed”, – said the Director of the Department.
