Microsoft and Qualcomm announced the first ARM-based laptops on Windows 10

Microsoft and Qualcomm has officially unveiled the device on processors with ARM architecture under Windows 10 with a capacious battery.

New laptops equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 835. Externally, these devices do not differ from the gadgets with Intel processors. As noted, they work “most of the software that you expect to see on a laptop”. The operating system uses software emulation of the x86 architecture.

The developers noted the lack of hibernation in new devices . Instead to sleep in case of inactivity from the user, the system simply reduces the level of energy consumption to the minimum value. The first device should work for about 20-22 hours of active use, for example – when viewing videos. Thus, the new notebook battery at times superior solutions with Intel processors.

HP Envy x2 is equipped with a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1920*1280 pixels, and NovaGo ASUS – 13.3-inch FullHD display. Both devices received from 4 to 8 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of up to 256GB.

The laptops are running Windows 10’s, but until September 30, 2018 may free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Among the features of the HP Envy x2 and ASUS NovaGo was also access to LTE networks with data transmission speeds up to 1 Gbps.

NovaGo will sell in the United States, China, Italy, UK, France, Germany and Taiwan. Release date yet to be announced. HP Envy x2 will go on sale in the spring of 2018.
