Putin explained to Merkel the withdrawal of the Russian military from SCCC
Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held on Thursday, December 21, telephone conversation, the press service of the Kremlin.
During the conversation, Merkel asked Putin about the reasons for the withdrawal of Russian observers from Donbass.
“When discussing a crisis situation in the South-East of Ukraine, Angela Merkel was interested in the reasons for the withdrawal of the Russian officers from the Joint center for control and coordination of ceasefire and stabilization of the line of contact between the parties (SCCC). Vladimir Putin, in particular, noted that Ukrainian authorities for a long time through various restrictions and provocations deliberately hindered the conditions for our military and the performance of their duties”, – is spoken in the message.
The parties agreed to continue discussion of open issues that need to resume full operation of the SCCC.
In addition, Putin and Merkel spoke in favor of the speedy implementation of initiatives for mutual exchange of prisoners, and supported the Contact group declared a Christmas truce.
