According to the newspaper Soir, the gas is purchased in the Russian port of Ust-Luga .
BRUSSELS, 6 Nov. /TASS/. American tankers to deliver liquefied natural gas terminal in Antwerp fuel purchased in Russia. This is stated in published on Monday by the newspaper Soir a new investigation into the activities of offshore companies, called the Paradise Papers. In the framework of this international investigation a group of journalists ICIJ (International consortium of investigative journalists), funded, in particular, funds of George Soros, has studied about 13.5 million documents on the work of offshore teams.
The publication notes that in the Belgian Antwerp liquefied gas delivered four oil tankers that belongs to the registered in the Marshall Islands company Navigator Holdings ltd, 31% of which, according to participants of the investigation, belongs to the Minister of Commerce Wilbur Ross. Liquefied gas produced by the company “SIBUR” they buy in the Russian port of Ust-Luga.
Earlier in an interview with TASS, Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov noted that “at least naive” to expect the arrival of liquefied natural gas from U.S. terminals in Europe. According to him, “the markets are looking for a higher price, and hence the excess liquefied gas from the USA will go to Asian markets, where demand and the price is much higher than European.”
The investigation of the newspaper confirms this view, pointing out that emerging Europe’s liquefied natural gas terminals to reduce dependence of EU countries from the export of natural gas through Russian pipelines operate in accordance with the laws of the market. They receive no gas from the United States and from the nearest source – Russia, but at a higher price than if the pipeline transportation.
