Nyzhnya Apsha is a place for the rich.
When someone starts talking about the modern village, imagination immediately draws a grim picture with dilapidated old houses and broken roads. Stereotypes, of course, a strong thing, but the Transcarpathian village of nyzhnya Apsha absolutely does not fit this concept. It is called the richest village in Ukraine. There is no single one-story home, or ridicule of the neighbors.
In the Transcarpathian region, a few kilometers from the Romanian-Ukrainian border is the village of nyzhnya Apsha. When you find yourself inside of it, it seems that the streets painfully “not ours”. In this village the houses are built with the condition “at least one brick, but my house needs to be higher.” That is why the village will not find a single building that would have two fewer floors. As funny as it may sound, but people live according to the principle of “what will people say.”
This specific development began in the late 1980’s, when the Ukrainian Romanians had the opportunity to travel outside the country for work. Most of the money they have invested in the construction of their choir. In the village there is the house in which less than 10-15 rooms, and there are the palaces in which there are up to 60 rooms. We use only the best materials.
It is considered good practice if the owners have pools, greenhouses, saunas. There are even shops look like a huge 2 or 3 storey houses, so as not to spoil the architectural ensemble. However, most residents are still working.
