Little known facts about the film “Ivan Vasilyevich changes occupation”. Photo

Unforgettable film Gaidai.

Comedy filmed on a theatre play by Mikhail Bulgakov, written in 1934. Theatre went wrong – the humor is lost after numerous alterations for political reasons, and after the dress rehearsal in the presence of party leaders of the USSR, the play was banned. The play went “on the shelf” and spent 40 years waiting for Leonid Gaidai.

The script was written by Yuri Nikulin, but the actor to play the role of Ivan the terrible refused. Refusal motivated by the fact that it is Bulgakov, his works have always a difficult destiny, so this film no one will see… For the role I auditioned seven actors, among whom was Eugene Evstigneev of the sample did not like the arts Council, Evgeny Lebedev, was not convincing in the role of superintendent and Georgy Vitsin – refused because of their Association with the famous trio of Coward, Bobby and Experienced. The role was brilliantly played and was approved king, superintendent Yuri Yakovlev. But Nikulin is very upset by his refusal, when the Director invited him for the premiere.

Censorship demanded redubbed some scenes. Few people know that there is the rare short version of the film, stylized as a silent movie. It’s called “Black gloves” and entirely devoted to Georges Miloslavskogo. The film includes cut pieces involving this character prevailing in complete story. It tells what happened to Miloslavski after he fled from police in a feature film.

The song “not strong cloud zamuchilas…” which in the film sang the psaltery players – a historical monument of Russian literature. It’s called “Song about an invasion of Crimean Tatars in Russia in 1572,” and was written in the late XVI — early XVII century after Molodinskaya battle with the Crimean Tatars and Turks on the outskirts of Moscow.
