1. As Russia Today lied about the “staged scenes in Syria.”

Justifying the bombing of Syria, the victims are mostly civilian population, the Russia Today TV channel was trying to explain to chilling reports of Western TV from the scene that all this – statement. Actually, this channel should have the official position of the Russian authorities, which tried to argue, for example, that in Idlib was not a chemical attack, and plots in support of this version were fabricated including, for example, and on “the First channel”.

But the case of Russia Today is special because a lie this channel is set officially in September 2015, the British media regulator Ofcom ruled on the case of a Corporation BBC, has filed a complaint at RT for a story in which Russian propagandists have accused the British TV crew in fabricating his reporting from Syria.

RT argued that BBC journalists “simulated chemical attack” by government forces for his reportage and interview of the witness was allegedly subjected to digital processing. Ofcom ruled that RT the plot of “significantly misleading” and that the TV channel Margarita Simonyan did not even turned to the BBC for a comment and did not give the possibility to Express their position before the release of slanderous episode aired.

2. As Russia Today crucified boy

The textbook story about the crucified boy is usually associated with the “First channel”, but few people remember that boy “crucified” and the TV channel Margarita Simonyan.

This story was published in the framework of the program with the ironic name of Truthseeker episode of “Genocide in Eastern Ukraine”, where it was argued that the Ukrainian government and army deliberately bombed civilians, killing and torture of journalists and crucify babies. Ukrainian soldiers Russian propagandists accused of “ethnic cleansing” and compared it to the Nazis during the Second world war. By the way, the British regulator Ofcom found “serious violations” and the plot, so from the site it was deleted.

It is noteworthy that the Margarita Simonyan then told that there was no crucifixion of the boy in the air her TV was not.

3. RT stole the video and changed its meaning

In April 2016 the RT employees took the story of a Syrian journalist and activist Hadi al-Abdullah about the bombing of Aleppo and pass it off as their material, throwing the words of the reporter that bombed it military-air forces of Assad.

4. As the TV channel Russia Today of lying about Ukraine

In early March 2014, in the midst of the intervention of “little green men” in Crimea, a leading English-language channel RT American Liz wall made the news with these words: “As a journalist of this company, I face many moral and ethical challenges. I can’t be part funded by the Russian government television, which whitewashes the actions of Putin. I’m proud that I’m American and believe in disseminating the truth. So after this I quit.”

She was not the only Western journalist who refused to work on the channel, spreading false propaganda. In July of the same year of dismissal said the London correspondent Sara Firth, who worked on the canal about five years. It was a reaction to how the station covered the death of a Malaysian airliner over separatist-controlled part of Donetsk region of Ukraine.

“When it happened, I ran to the office and saw how we cover it. And then I realized that I should do, – quotes the words of the journalist the Internet-BuzzFeed. – It was utter disrespect for facts. We tossed the evidence of some witnesses from the scene, openly accusing the Ukrainian government, and the correspondent in the Studio remembered a long crash, which was involved in Ukraine, and stated that it was “worth mentioning”.

This is RT in all its glory – these games are on the verge of outright lies. You’re not lying — you’re just insinuating something. I didn’t want to see that when people lost their loved ones, and we manipulated this way. I couldn’t continue to do it. Every day we are lied to and was looking for the increasingly seductive ways to do this.”

Please specify the coverage of the situation with the downed Boeing is not always teetered on the brink of a lie, RT often crossed this border. For example, the TV station reported that the separatists did not have the Buk missile system and that the Boeing was shot down by a Ukrainian su-25. Russia Today also referred to create fake Twitter “Spanish Manager Carlos” (it is noteworthy that after some time, this Twitter account has become a certain Lyudmila Lopatkina, revitol Kremlin accounts).

5. As the Russia Today TV channel manipulates the facts

In March 2014, former American RT reporter Stacy Bivens also told BuzzFeed, “how to make a true” on the channel. A few years ago, the leaders demanded that she made the story, which said that Germany is a “failed state” (failed state).

“They called me and said something completely surreal. One of the leaders said, the story is about what the West is experiencing a failure, that Germany is a failed state,” said Bivens.

She tried to tell leaders that it is not true that can be called a failed States such as Somalia or the Congo, but not economically and industrially developed countries, to which Germany belongs, writes BuzzFeed. But the chief insisted. Bivens refused to comply with this order. But the channel was sent to Germany the film crew without her, and Bivens brought later so she wrote down some comments of my own in the scenes and interviews about racism in Germany. And that was the beginning of the end of her career on the channel RT. She did not immediately leave, but soon expired term of her contract, and she decided not to renew.

“Game on the brink of outright lies,” mentioned Sarah Firth – corporate reception channel. Usually most news discussed a “rumor” (which is probably anyone except RT, and was not known), but the title makes a statement in such form, as if it were a proven fact.

Here is one typical example. In may 2014, a guest of one of the editions of the program SophieCo, which was led by the English-language channel RT Sofiko Shevardnadze, was an American investment banker Jack Worthington. Presenter asked him a question: “I don’t know if you heard about it, but recently in the German press there were reports of mercenaries from the company formerly known as Blackwater operating in Ukraine. What is it? The result of Western investment? What do you think?”.

Worthington replied, “Yes, I know these rumors. I think that’s a likely scenario, I want to say that this is not what we know, but it has a tendency – there is such a variety of covert operations, the United States used similar tactics in other regions of the world, so no wonder if they do it in Ukraine”. And in the title of this story on the RT website there is no longer any “rumors” or “probable scenario”, it says simply: “the United States with the help of mercenaries carried out covert operations in Ukraine — investment officer Jack Worthington”.

PS Sometimes RT still tells the truth

It is necessary to give the RT employees and to admit that sometimes the TV reports is extremely important and valuable information. However, this happens usually against his will.

So, in June 2016 Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), conducting investigations in war zones, found that the RT on June 18 showed footage from the base of Hamim in Syria, where one of the Russian combat aircraft is equipped with a cluster of incendiary bombs RBK-500 ZAB-2.5 SM.

The problem is that the use of such bombs – a direct violation of international law. Although Russia has not signed the Convention banning cluster munitions, it was a party to the “Convention on prohibitions or restrictions on the use of certain conventional weapons which may be deemed to be excessively injurious or to have indiscriminate effects” (the full text of the Convention is available at the link). In particular, Article 2 of Protocol III of the Convention prohibits the use of all incendiary weapons in civilian facilities and aircraft incendiary weapons against military targets located in residential areas.

After this uproar, the TV station realized that issued the air too true news Youtube footage of the bombs cut (under the pretext that in the shot of the face of the Russian military and the canal has taken care of its safety). But it did not go unnoticed, so the news of conditionally zatsenzureno video RT caused a new wave of publications. In the end RT thanks video in its original form.
