Komodo island that belongs to Indonesia, will be closed for all types of tourism in 2020. This decision was taken by the local Ministry of environment and forestry.
“Komodo island will be temporarily closed from January 2020”, – announced to the government of Indonesia.
To such exceptional measures, the authorities decided to resort after police exposed a group of smugglers who tried to smuggle over the border 41 of the Komodo dragon (the lizard type lizard with Komodo) – the cost of each animal is about $55 thousand
Rare animals constantly trying to take from Komodo, however, such a large party is not caught for a long time. In addition, the government was concerned that tourism (and the island, except for the lizards, famous for its underwater world and attracts divers) destroys the conditions of existence of animals. Therefore, to protect the population, tourism in Komodo banned. The ban is temporary, but until the open date.
