It is strange that nobody thought of this before. After all, where’s the logical thing would be to meet a large monkey? On the Planet of the apes, of course! And here it is finished: this fall, two worlds collide in comic-crossover from BOOM! Studios.
Whatever you say, but comics are cool. In them the creators a lot more freedom where you can turn it around, that is unlikely to transfer to the big screen for one reason or another: whether it’s a problem with copyright or overly wild imagination of the writers. Take a series of “Marvel Zombies”. Fun fact came out: the usual superheroes shown in the form of walking corpses; as well as a miss? I read, looked at, enjoyed and forgotten. Everybody wins. But it’s hard to imagine that Hollywood bosses lay out a tidy sum for the establishment of such a horror blockbuster. It is too risky. But in the comics, such experiments are welcome.
So, for the first time, we could merge the two “monkey” franchises, “king Kong” and “planet of the apes”. It will be a mini-series of six issues, which was called “Kong of the Planet of the apes” (Kong on the Planet of the Apes). The writer will make Ryan Ferrier, and the graphical part will be answered by the artist Carlos Magno.
The plot of the crossover will be linked to the original “planet of the apes” in 1968. After described in the movie event Dr. Zaius and General Ursus together with a small group of soldiers travel to the Forbidden Zone to destroy all traces among them astronaut George Taylor. But there they are – all of a sudden! – meet king Kong. To learn the truth and understand what was happening, the characters are forced to embark on the most dangerous journey in life – they are waiting for the Skull Island…
The first issue of the series “Kong on the Planet of the apes” will be released in November this year.
