Kazakhstan plans to ban the import of gasoline from Russia by rail

The Kazakh authorities intend to impose a ban for three months on the importation of gasoline, aviation and diesel fuel from Russia by rail for a period. This is stated in the draft order of the Minister of energy of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogayev “On some issues of supply of petroleum products to the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Russian Federation,” published on the website of the regulatory legal acts of the Republic on Tuesday.

“In accordance with paragraph 9 of Annex 1 to the Agreement between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Russian Federation on trade and economic cooperation in deliveries of oil and petroleum products in the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 9 December 2010 and paragraph 1 of article 18 of the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 12 April 2004 “On regulation of commercial activities” I order: to introduce a prohibition for a period of three months on the importation into the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Russian Federation railway transport gasoline, jet and diesel fuel,” – said in the draft document. It is noted that the draft order is public discussion until April 7.

Earlier, Kazakhstan imposed a ban on the import of gasoline from Russia by rail for a period of three months from March 2, 2019. Then in a press-service of the Ministry of energy of the Republic explained that the ban is associated with an excess of fuel in the domestic market after the modernization of oil refineries of the country.
