Transnistrian authorities showed reporters of Ukrainian life in the unrecognized Republic, controlling every step.

The media showed the local Parliament, but was not allowed to deviate from a specific route, and to move independently around Tiraspol.

The story notes that in Transnistria worship of the Soviet Union, the Parliament is a huge statue of Lenin, popularly nicknamed Batman because of his cloak.

Soviet symbols interspersed with Russian flags and flags of the unrecognized Republic everywhere. Moreover, some still live with Soviet passports.
