Israeli President asked Putin to pardon an Israeli sentenced for drugs

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has asked President Vladimir Putin to pardon a citizen of Israel and the United States and Naama Issachar, which was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for smuggling hashish in the Luggage when she flew a transit flight via Moscow. This writes the “Novaya Gazeta”.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel has refused, at the request of Russia to exchange it for the programmer, Alexey Burkov, which in 2015 in the U.S. was arrested in tel Aviv as the court has already decided on his extradition. The publication notes that the case of Issachar also twice discussed with Putin the Prime Minister of the country Benjamin Netanyahu.

As reported by “the Media”, 25-year-old Naama Issachar was arrested in April when she had a transplant in Sheremetyevo on the way from Delhi to tel Aviv. In October she was found guilty of possessing and smuggling of 9.5 grams of hashish (part 1 of article 228, paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 229.1 of the criminal code). Issachar denied allegations of smuggling, since she had no access to the Luggage where the drugs.
