In Yemen more than a million people could be infected with cholera

The epidemic is gaining momentum.

Experts of the International red cross in the Arab Republic of Yemen recorded more than a million cases in which it is assumed the people have been infected with the virus of cholera.

According to the world health organization, from the beginning of April cholera in Yemen killed more than 2.2 million people. A third of victims – children.

“The number of possible cases of cholera has reached 1 million, that significantly increases the suffering of the population due to the brutal war”, – stated in the message of the ICRC.

In addition, according to the ICRC, more than 80% of the population of Yemen lack food, drinking water. They also need medical care.

In turn, the UN noted that the situation in Yemen is one of the most serious humanitarian crises in the world.

The cholera epidemic is spreading in the background of the armed conflict in Yemen in 2014. The outbreak was recorded in mid-April 2017 to mid-August, the cholera epidemic has affected half a million people.
