Cold spring will affect yields not only fruit and vegetables. Farmers predict a reduction in yield and grain crops, which will lead to a rise in price of bakery products.
Farmers predict that this year the yield of cereals will be reduced by 20-25% compared to last year.
According to an experienced farmer, Yuri Snisarenko, a large volume of early grains this year had to be passaged.
“Because of spring frosts, the grain yield this year will be lower by 20-25%. A large amount of early crops had to be passaged,” – said the farmer.
According to him, farmers are looking for promising varieties, which can resist weather conditions. It is expected that by the end of the year due to low harvest and rising costs, the cost of a loaf of bread can reach 12 to 17 hryvnia.
At the same time, head of the APK Dneprova Vadim Udovitsky calms consumers. According to him, this year’s expected grain harvest of 2.8 million tons.
“The reason for panic and a significant jump in prices for bread is not”, — assured Udovitsky.
