In Ukraine slowed growth in new car sales

According to the results of last month was replaced by the market leaders.

In February 2017 in the Ukrainian market was $ 4.7 million of new passenger cars.

This figure is identical to results from the last month and only 12% higher than in February 2016.

In January of this year, sales of new vehicles increased by 54% compared to January 2016. In February half of the market participants recorded a negative sales trend.

According to the results of last month was replaced by the market leaders. In the first place of the February sales was again a French brand of Renault – 530 machines. Second place went to the German Volkswagen – 344 (in January, held the third spot). Third place was taken by South Korean brand Hyundai – cars 334 (the eighth place in the January sales). Fourth and fifth places remained behind KIA (fifth place last month) and Toyota (second place) – for 329 and 328 vehicles, respectively.

General Director of AUTO-Consulting Oleg Omelnitsky highlights several reasons for the February decrease in sales. First, the sharp increase in demand in January was caused by the turbulence in the currency market. The February rate more or less stabilized and demand has returned to normal. Second, in January, was an active car sales 2016 release, and in February of the “delicious” offerings has become less or were not the most running models. But most importantly, according to Omelnitskogo, the economy does not give grounds for significant sales growth. Potential demand remains very weak, and 12.6% of growth — it’s too bad.

According to marketing Director of MMC Ukraine (the official importer of cars Mitshubishi) Elena Angelova, January and February are not the most significant months for such deep analysis. February 2016 were, on average, more successful in comparison with all years over the past few years. This is due to instability on the currency market.

In General, for two months this year recorded about 9.5 thousand new cars. Which is 30% higher than a year earlier.

Omelnitsky said that in February recorded another very interesting trend. The demand for crossovers (SUV) exceeded 50% and their sales accounted for 53% of the market. For comparison, a year ago, they were at the level of 46-47%. According to him, this trend will continue in future months. Is the response of customers to the quality of roads and the lack thereof. “A growing number of Ukrainians want to be able to move on SUVs, but not passenger sedans,” he explains.

Today’s growth rates coincide with the forecasts of the dealers. According to Angelova, a good momentum of growth of the first two months will lead to a market 74 thousand new machines. “This is approximately correlated with the forecasts of the major players in the market,” she explains.

The main drivers of market growth are the stable political and economic situation in the country, seasonal changes, updating of parks of companies and, of course, the release of new models to the Ukrainian market, says General Director of Eurocar Marina Yakovleva. “As for the best selling price category of cars, the trend of last year will continue and it will be cars Volume and Premium segments,” she predicts.
