Pork imports increased sharply.
In early November, in Ukraine, there were 6.7 million pigs. This is 8.9% less compared to a year earlier.
Although the reduction in the number primarily touched upon the industrial sector, the majority of pigs are concentrated in agricultural enterprises.
Thus, in comparison with November 2016, the number of industrial pigs decreased by 10% or for 370 thousand heads.
However, the number of animals in agricultural enterprises slightly higher than their number in the household sector: 3.4 million heads, compared to 3.2 million head, respectively.
It is worth noting that one of the important factors that contributes to the reduction in the number of pigs in farms of the population is the spread of ASF.
For 10 months of 2017, Ukraine recorded a 131 the outbreak of ASF, which is 44% more cases than the previous year.
At the same time, the vast majority of them took place in the household sector.
The reduction in the number of pigs influenced by the fact that pork imports for the second month of autumn in 4 times exceeded exports.
In General, for 10 months of 2017 revenues of pork from abroad amounted to 4.1 thousand tons worth $7.2 million.
The main suppliers of pork from abroad are Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark. Of these countries supplied two-thirds of imported meat raw materials.
As reported the Ministry of agrarian policy on the development of pigs breeding in the budget of the 2018 pledged 300 million UAH, and to deal with ASF – 680 million UAH.
