In Ukraine fined ten radio stations

The total fine amounts to 579 000.

The national Council on television and radio broadcasting has applied the penalties to 10 radio stations, violating the norms of legislation on quotas.

So, the total fine for 10 radio stations is 579 000.

Note that three radio stations: “Radio.News”, “104.0 FM” (Mariupol), “Radio GLAS” (Odessa) was fined for violation of the legislation in terms of broadcast in the state language.

In addition, “Kiss FM”, “Radio Shanson”, “Radio one hundred and six and six” (Kharkiv), “M FM” (Kharkiv), “Europe plus Dnepr”, “IRTA” (Severodonetsk) and OJSC “TRK Mayak” (Alexandria) were fined for violation of the legislation in terms of the volume of songs in the Ukrainian language.
The highest amount of penalty received Radio Chanson – more than 125 000 hryvnia.

Recall, 8 September 2016 entered into force the law on quotas for Ukrainian-language songs on the radio. The Verkhovna Rada voted for the law establishing a 35% quota for songs in the Ukrainian language on the radio. The bill was supported by 268 deputies. This means that every fourth song on Ukrainian radio will sound in the Ukrainian language.
