In Ukraine can be arrested for “St. George” ribbon

Ukraine has banned the “St. George” ribbon

The Verkhovna Rada has banned a St. George’s ribbon, in Ukraine. For the bill voted 238 deputies.

According to sakoku in the Code of administrative offences introduced article entitled “Production and promotion of St. George (guards) ribbon”.

For public display or carrying of the tape provides punishment in the form of 50-150 times the minimum (850-2550 hryvnia).
In case of repeated offense during one year – from 150 to 300 non-taxable minimum (2550-5100 UAH) and administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

The initiator of the bill MP from NF Anton Gerashchenko. In his explanatory note said that the St. George’s ribbon, in Ukraine has become “a symbol of Russian occupation and aggression.”

We note that recently in Amnesty International stated that the law on de-communization violates human rights, and detention for the use of Soviet symbols is invalid.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the run with flags of the USSR in the Odessa region, and the teenager was sentenced conditionally for communism in the social network.
