The special status of separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions has been extended until 10 October 2018.
The law On creation of necessary conditions for peaceful settlement of the situation in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions came into force. Tuesday, October 10, he published in the official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada, the Holos Ukrainy.
According to the document, the law comes into force from the date of publication. It extends for a year the law On the special order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – by 10 October 2018.
The document stipulated that it would enter into force only after all the conditions spelled out in the final provisions of the law On special order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, particularly in the part which concerns the withdrawal of all illegal armed groups, military equipment and militants and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine.
The law was in effect from October 18, 2014, but came into force only the first article, which envisaged the introduction of a temporary 3-year special procedure in certain areas, cities, towns and villages, which are determined by decision of the Verkhovna Rada.
The remaining articles of the law began to operate from the date of entry into the powers of local self-government in certain districts of Donbass elected in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and in compliance with international election standards, thus compliance with human rights and a number of other conditions.
