Odessa initiated at the end of the holiday season and a series of crimes against foreign citizens the project of creation in Ukraine of tourist police in Odessa, Lviv and Kiev. Now this project is being finalized at the state level.
This was stated by the head of the Main Department of Ukraine in Odessa region Dmitry Golovin.
“The project’s ideology is that in the period from 1 may to 15 September tourist police were working ahead of the curve and the provision of services and not only on the reaction and disclosure”, – he explained.
Golovin also announced plans to equip police with high technical tools.
“This is the face of the country, the face of the city. The police in eliminating crime in resort areas, will boost the attractiveness of these cities for tourists, increase investment in the tourism industry”, – said the head of police in Odessa region.
In addition, he illustrated the potential effect from the start of the project as an example, when starting velatropa in the resort area of Odessa Arcadia has reduced crime there by 60%.
