Residence Collingwood, designed by Studio Frits de Vries Architects + Associates Ltd. located in a private area surrounded by forest, on the Western coast of Bowen island, Canada.
The house is divided into three volumes, linked by glass covered walkways that provide a division into public and private areas, while providing magnificent ocean views. Public functions are concentrated in the open space area located in the Central building that combines the kitchen, dining and living room. Master bedroom and guest rooms are in side buildings.
Sliding glass doors from floor to ceiling in the kitchen and dining area extend the living space onto a terrace with open panoramic views out to the ocean. Constructed with selected local materials, typical of houses of this region — the cedar cladding of the facades and natural stone as a building Foundation. Large cantilevered gable roof with cedar beams correspond to the traditional form of a solitary hut.
Detailed zinc fascia attach to the roof lines modern look.
