A storm of indignation rose in the Crimea because of plans to close the oldest on the Peninsula meteorological station.
Officials say she allegedly gives a valuable SYNOPTIC information, and the room itself is a threat because of problems with fire safety. Scientists and volunteers does not agree and add that the point is important from the point of view of the help to tourists and cavers.
A week later, the weather station on Karabi-Yayla close. Protection is not provided. Boiler is off, the pipe cut. The official reason for closing: the inspectors on labor protection and fire safety can’t get on a mountain plateau.
Meteorologist Constantine Hot announced the collection of funds to save the station. Superiors, in turn, forbade Constantine to raise funds and threatened with prosecution.
Volunteer Pavel Emelyanov volunteered to guard the station for free. Living together dog Bagel in a small outhouse. Collects and chops wood to not freeze the pipes, heats the furnace.
“I here first came as a tourist and subsequently decided to remain a volunteer. And for what? Below the station is not taken away, in order to maintain its vital functions,” says Pavel Emelyanov.
