In the EU, the lessor is obliged to specify the real prices for tourists

Unpleasant surprises no more.

After the intervention of the European Commission and consumer protection of the EU’s five leading car rental companies – Avis, Europcar, Enterprise, Hertz, and Sixt – has pledged to make the pricing transparent.

Currently, Enterprise and Sixt have already made all the necessary changes. Avis will do it in may, staff in June 2019, Hertz no later than the end of the first quarter of 2020.

General requirements are as follows. The company has pledged to include all fees in the total price when booking, specify on the website the base price and all additional costs: the fee for fuel in the tank, airport taxes, surcharge for young drivers the fee for a one-way journey when the car returns to the not rental, which was taken.

The next requirement is a clear description of basic services in all national languages to when signing the contract, users receive abundantly clear.

Finally, the lessor must provide details about the additional services, such as insurance damage to the vehicle. Should be clearly spelled out what is and what is not includes insurance, what will be the principal amount against the damage and what specific amount is required to pay the driver in case of an accident.

Now / there should be no surprises associated with additional costs when you rent a car.
