Yaroslaviv Val will be free from cars.
On August 24, part of the street Yaroslav Val in the center of Kyiv will be released from vehicles and is completely given to pedestrians.
According to the Director of the Department of transport infrastructure KSCA Sergei Simonov, we are talking about a small segment length of 40 meters from the street of Ivan Franko to Streletskaya. Now the creation of a pedestrian area is considered as an experiment. In September, will be analyzed the results and will make the final decision to leave this part of the street is pedestrian only, or return the boat back.
The initiators of this project say that according to transport models Kiev, Large Zhytomyr ARVAL duplicates – both streets lead traffic flow of cars on the European square. But the capacity of the area is limited, so the transit through Yaroslaviv Val, ostensibly, increases the capacity of the street network of the city center in General.
“Overlap area only 40 metres, so all the entrances to housing, offices and Commerce remain open,” they say.
