Specialists of ESET found a Turkish store Android apps CepKutusu Trojan, which was spread under the guise of legitimate applications.
Banking Trojan called Spy.Banker is designed to steal data from online banking. He is able to intercept SMS messages from banking services, to download and install other applications.
Experts note that the link to the download of malware was all legitimate apps in the store CepKutusu. Each time you press the button “Download” was the attempt of infecting a mobile device.
It is also noteworthy that after installation, the bot didn’t even try to simulate the application downloaded by the user – instead, it was disguised as Adobe Flash Player (this program will cease to exist in 2020).
ESET assume that the app store could be created specifically to distribute malware. According to employees, the company could potentially be implemented in which the cybercriminals controlling a store, add malicious functions to all applications.
To avoid becoming a victim of hackers, the company recommends that users only use official app stores, avoiding the alternative sites.
