In Smolensk the city Council rejected the initiative to install a memorial to the employees of Regardie who died in the line of duty. According to the publication Smolnarod.ru for the decision did not have two votes. In addition, the discussion raised the question about expediency of installation of a memorial, because since the formation of Regardie none of Smolyan-asguardian died in the line of duty, and the law enforcement officers already have a memorial to Gagarin Avenue.
The monument was proposed to erect in the Park on the territory of memorial complex “Memory Smolyan killed in the line of duty” in borders of streets of Marshal Zhukov, Tukhachevsky — Isakovsky. Interestingly, the Foundation stone of the future memorial was laid before the consideration of the Council.
Citing an unnamed source in the mayoralty of Smolensk, the publication says that last week the city Council came to the Deputy chief of the regional Department of internal Affairs Igor Borisenko and demanded the list of MPs who did not support the decision to install the memorial. He refused, citing the fact that the electronic voting system does not store such information.
As a result, the issue will be discussed at the September meeting of the city Council again at the request of the mayor Andrei Borisov.
